Shillong Sightseeing Package Tours & Operators
All tour operators including MTDC (Meghalaya Tourist Development Corporation) and even taxi drivers in Shillong offer sightseeing tours in and around Shillong including day trips to nearby places like Cherrapunjee (Sohra), Mawlynnong village etc. Below are the common sightseeing packages offered in Shillong and indicative package rates (Fare updated: March 2022)
Shillong Local Sightseeing Tour Package
This is certainly the most popular sightseeing package and typically covers the following places:
Elephant Falls, Shillong Peak, Lady Hydari Park, Cathedral (Mary Help) at Laitumkhrah, Ward's Lake, Golf Course, State Museum, Beadon Bishop Falls, Umiam (aka. Barapani) Lake.
This is a full day tour and usually starts at 8:30am (you can be flexible in time if you hire a private cab or a car from tour operator) and ends at 3:30pm including lunch time. Note that there can be minor variations in coverage depending on tour operator... for example some may cover Don Bosco Museum instead of the State Museum... however they are often flexible if you take a full car.

MTDC conducts a bus tour (usually in ordinary non-AC bus although they used to conduct in Volvo AC bus as well). This tour operates in a per person basis and start from their Police Bazaar office. Rate: Rs. 300/- per person. See 'Tour Operators' section below for further details and contact info.
Cherrapunjee (Sohra) Day Trip and Sightseeing

Mawlynnong village + Dawki Village Day Trip & Sightseeing
Note that Mawlynnong (located about 100kms from Shillong) was declared as the cleanest village in the whole of Asia in 2003 and is still regarded as the cleanest and most beautiful village in India. Dawki Village is also covered in this trip and is close to Bangladesh border. As you approach Dawki, you will pass through deep gorges and ravines ... a thrilling experience. You will then reach Umngot river where the annual boat racing is held between March to April. There is a single span suspension bridge over this river which acts as the gateway to Bangladesh and major trade takes place through this.

Mawsynram Site seeing
This the pace where highest rain fall takes place in the world. It's about 61kms from Shillong. Other than experiencing a unique place in the world, there are beautiful gardens, view points, pools and caves here.
Places covered includes:
Mawjyngbuin Cave, Khreng Khreng (Cracked rock), Rit Mawksir view point, Jakrem Hot Water Spring.

NOTE: MTDC does not have online booking system and neither they accept booking over phone or bank transfers. You need to visit Tourist Information Center at Police Bazaar minimum one day in advance to make full payment and book the tour. All their bus tours are accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, however no guide is provided with tours on reserved cars.
