Mesmerizing Darjeeling

I have fallen in Love with Darjeeling. This was my visit to Darjeeling.... and it was just mind blowing. We had a wonderful time. We initially planned for just 3 days but eventually went on to stay for 5 days. We were very lucky to have seen the sunrise and Kanchanjunga on our first visit itself.

The Toy Train ride from Kurseong to Darjeeling was the best experience.... The Mall Chowrasta, Tiger Hill, Batasia Loop, Japanese Pagoda, Observatory Hill, Happy Valley Tea Estate all were awesome. We had a memorable time at Darjeeling Zoo. It is one of the best zoological parks of India.

The variety of restaurants at Darjeeling is simply great... Pure English, Tibetan, Chinese, Bengali, North Indian ....the platters on offer are endless as far as Hill station is concerned.

However the stay at Hotel Chanakaya was the worst. People should avoid it at any cost. We had a one night stay there. The rooms are very dirty and the service is lousy.

Trip Highlights include Sightseeing, Eating, Sipping Darjeeling Tea and soaking in the ambience at The Mall.

Tips for Food lovers:

1) English Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner - Glenary's, Keventer's

2) Tibetan Dishes - Kunga, Dekevas,

3) Tea tasting: Golden Tips, Nathmuls

4) North Indian Food: Mahakal Restaurant

Shopping:

Nehru Road, Laden La road, The Rink Mall, The Mall Chowrasta, Chowk Bazaar

We had reserved 3 different cars for three tours...all the drivers were great. Don't book a car from the taxi stand or the Tourist information kiosks....Try to bargain a reservation directly from the drivers...you will get it cheaper.
